Are there envelope caps or overage fees?
Starter and Business include unlimited document sends and e-signatures with no per-envelope fees. The Free plan allows 5 documents per month. DocuSign Standard and Business Pro annual plans include 100 envelopes per user/year; custom agreements can differ.
Will this replace everything we use in PandaDoc?
Check your actual workflow with us. Proposals, pricing tables, templates, tracked links and signing are available. Payments, native CRM integrations and approval workflows are on the roadmap. Bring any requirements your team depends on to the switch call.
Is the price per user or per organization?
Per user, per month — pay monthly, or save up to 25% by billing annually (Business is $39/mo monthly or $29/mo annually). The Free plan is forever free for one user. Starter and Business include unlimited e-signatures for that user — invite teammates by adding seats. Enterprise is custom-priced (volume discounts and consolidated billing).
What happens when I hit the 5-document limit on the free plan?
Your existing documents stay accessible — they keep tracking views and signatures. You just can't SEND new ones until your monthly allowance resets (30 days after your current period started) or you upgrade to Starter. Documents don't carry over between months.
Do I need a credit card to start?
No. The Free plan needs no card — send up to 5 documents a month for as long as you like. The free tier IS the trial: we only ask for payment when you choose to upgrade to Starter or Business.
Are e-signatures legally binding?
Yes — under the US ESIGN Act, UETA (49 states), and eIDAS Basic Electronic Signature in the EU. Every signature carries a tamper-evident, hash-chained audit trail with timestamps, IPs, devices, and consent records, archived for 7 years. Your signed PDFs include a Certificate of Completion, exportable as evidence of valid execution.
What counts as an AI action vs a smart suggestion?
An AI action is a discrete generation you trigger — drafting a clause, rewriting a paragraph, summarizing a contract. A smart suggestion is an inline, autocomplete-style hint as you type. Starter includes 200 actions + 1,000 suggestions / mo; Business includes 800 + 5,000 per user. Unused amounts don’t roll over.
Do recipients need a ZSign account to sign?
No. Recipients get a link and can sign directly in their browser. No account, no app install.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yep. Cancel from your settings page and you keep access through the end of your billing period. No hoops.
What payment methods do you accept?
Credit and debit cards, processed securely by Paddle, our merchant of record. If you're on an annual plan, we can do invoice billing too.
Is there a limit on the number of signers per document?
Nope. Add as many signers as you need, on any plan.
